My ‘Rotunda’ Experience

by Amy Lieb - Rotunda Graduate and parent with two children at Rotunda Nursery

"I first discovered The Rotunda through living in the local Kirkdale area. I regularly visited the café and garden to meet with family and friends. I was at the time studying in college and thinking of applying to university to return to education as a mature student. I already had 3 children so having concentrated on my family before studies or work I was lacking in work experience. I then went on to do some volunteering work with The Rotunda to get some hands-on experience. I got to know the staff and centre well and I felt encouraged to apply for university. I have now completed my first two years at university and am in my final year of my degree. I have also had 2 new additions to our family, who both attend The Rotunda nursery full time whilst I study. I feel very lucky to have such a wonderful community hub right on my doorstep. We have attended many of the numerous events run by The Rotunda, we have enjoyed Christmas grottos and Halloween parties hosted there, we attended the free summer activity camps with friends and the kids love a trip to the ‘Right Fed Shed’ to see what food and flowers donations are on offer that day. I am very proud also to be involved with such a fabulous organisation that offers so many services to every generation. I left school with no formal qualifications and it has been a long road to get where I am now. I wish I had somewhere like The Rotunda available to me back then, they offer many courses and alternative education to help young people work towards their future, they also offer counselling, domestic abuse support, donations to those in need and of course all the wonderful family activities. I have been amazed at the progress my two little ones have made with the nursery, after being in lock down for so long and being so young I was apprehensive about them starting full time. I needn’t have been, as they both love it and the nursery staff have become a second family to them. I feel I can concentrate on my studies and future knowing my babies are happy and with such amazing staff. I reached out to CEO Maxine Ennis for the chance to have a chat with her to assist in a university assignment and was, as always, made to feel welcome to any help they could offer. I look forward to me and my family being a part of The Rotunda community for many years to come."

"Thank you Rotunda centre and Nursery for all your support, guidance and fab work you do!"
